During my week and half long break and travels I got the opportunity to listen to Bill O’Reilly’s acclaimed novel, Killing Lincoln. This was the first book I had listened to on tape (so to speak) and it didn’t disappoint. It was actually read by O’Reilly himself and as the title suggests enumerates the events leading up to the assignation of President Abraham Lincoln. At first this might seem like it might be another boring re-enactment of John Wilkes Booths tragic taking of the president but in reality it reads like a 336 page thriller. There is more to this American tale that O’Reilly effortlessly and gruesomely shares. This novel details the struggle of the 1860s soldier and President to end the war and rebuild America. O’Reilly paints a clear picture of American life after hardship. Definitely a must read (or listen too)!
