Like many little girls, one of my favorite activities growing up was decorating Easter eggs. Most of you are probably familiar with the Paas egg coloring kit, the one with the color tablets that dissolve in vinegar and the decorative plastic wraps that shrink around the egg when dunked in hot water. But are you familiar with Ukrainian eggs? In middle school my teacher Mrs. Wehr introduced me to this unique way of creating very detailed and brilliantly colored eggs. The process however, is more time consuming and is not appropriate for all age levels. This is largely due to the hot wax and open flames that are used to preserve and reveal the egg’s color. Below is a link to a short video detailing the decorating process along with a link to where you can purchase supplies. Enjoy and happy Easter!
